SHH Troubleshooting
Typical SHH Opening Challenges
Adobe Photoshop CC Disappeared
Double-clicking your SHH file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open SHH File". Customarily, this means that Adobe Photoshop CC is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your SHH with Adobe Photoshop CC, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your SHH, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Adobe Photoshop CC is Out-of-Date
It is possible that your version of Adobe Photoshop CC isn't able to open your Adobe Photoshop Shadow/Highlight Settings file due to incompatibility. Installing the latest version of Adobe Photoshop CC from Adobe Systems Incorporated is recommended. This issue mainly occurs when your Adobe Photoshop Shadow/Highlight Settings file was created by a newer version of Adobe Photoshop CC than you have on your PC.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your SHH file and clicking "Properties".
Conclusion: The majority of SHH file opening issues are due to not having the correct Adobe Photoshop CC version installed.
Other SHH File Issues
Even with the correct version of Adobe Photoshop CC installed, you can still experience difficulties opening SHHs. If you are still having problems opening SHH files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- SHH file type Registry entries are wrong
- Deletion of the SHH file description from the Registry by mistake
- Partial installation of Adobe Photoshop CC that did not fully complete
- Your SHH file is corrupted (issues with your Adobe Photoshop Shadow/Highlight Settings file itself)
- SHH file integrity has been compromised by malware
- SHH-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Adobe Photoshop Shadow/Highlight Settings file successfully
