Sources of SWZ Problems
Frequent SWZ Opening Issues
Adobe Flash Player Removed
You attempt to load your SWZ file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The SWZ File Extension". Customarily, this means that Adobe Flash Player is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When another SWZ application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated Adobe Flash Player
In other instances, your Adobe Flash Player Cache File file version may not be supported by your version of Adobe Flash Player. Download the latest Adobe Flash Player version from the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your Adobe Flash Player Cache File file was created by a different (newer) version of Adobe Flash Player than what's installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of SWZ file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the SWZ file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Adobe Flash Player installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading SWZ Files
Even with the correct version of Adobe Flash Player installed, you can still experience difficulties opening SWZs. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening SWZs. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Windows Registry SWZ file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the SWZ file in the Windows registry
- Partial installation of Adobe Flash Player that did not fully complete
- SWZ file corruption
- Malware-tainted SWZ file can't be opened
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your SWZ file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your Adobe Flash Player Cache File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
