Troubleshooting Problems Opening SYN Files
Issues Opening SYN Files
FL Studio 12 Removed
If you attempt to load your SYN file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open SYN Files". Customarily, this means that FL Studio 12 is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your SYN with FL Studio 12, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When another SYN application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of FL Studio 12
In other instances, your SimSynth Document file version may not be supported by your version of FL Studio 12. If you do not have the proper version FL Studio 12 (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a SimSynth Document file version that was created by a newer version of FL Studio 12 than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your SYN file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the SYN file opening problems relate to not having the right version of FL Studio 12 installed.
Other SYN File Issues
Although you might already have FL Studio 12 or another SYN-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening SimSynth Document files. If you are still having problems opening SYN files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Other contributing causes:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for SYN
- The SYN file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Partial installation of FL Studio 12 that did not fully complete
- Your SYN can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your SYN has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware related to SYNs has device driver corruption
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your SimSynth Document file successfully
