Sources of XDC Problems
Common XDC Opening Problems
Adobe Acrobat DC Isn't There
If you attempt to load your XDC file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open XDC Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Adobe Acrobat DC for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the XDC file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens XDC files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Adobe Acrobat DC is Out-of-Date
It is possible that your version of Adobe Acrobat DC isn't able to open your Adobe Acrobat Printer Description file due to incompatibility. Visit the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Adobe Acrobat DC. The primary cause of this problem is that your Adobe Acrobat Printer Description file was created by a different (newer) version of Adobe Acrobat DC than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the XDC file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening XDC files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe Acrobat DC installed.
Other XDC File Issues
Although you might already have Adobe Acrobat DC or another XDC-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Adobe Acrobat Printer Description files. Other XDC opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
