Understanding NHF Issues
Common NHF Opening Problems
Nero Burning ROM is Not Installed
When you double-click your NHF file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Nero Burning ROM missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the NHF file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your NHF, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Wrong Version of Nero Burning ROM is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of Nero Burning ROM won't support your Nero HFS CD Compilation file. Download the latest Nero Burning ROM version from the Nero AG website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This issue mainly occurs when your Nero HFS CD Compilation file was created by a newer version of Nero Burning ROM than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your NHF file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right Nero Burning ROM version on your computer can cause problems opening NHF files.
Other Causes of NHF File Opening Problems
You can still experience errors opening NHF files even with the latest version of Nero Burning ROM installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening NHF files. Additional factors include:
- File references in the Windows Registry for NHF are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the NHF file in the Windows registry
- Nero Burning ROM or another NHF application experienced a flawed installation
- Something has caused file corruption of your NHF
- The NHF is infected with a virus
- Hardware related to NHFs has device driver corruption
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Nero HFS CD Compilation files
