NRB Troubleshooting
Typical NRB Opening Challenges
Nero Burning ROM Removed
You attempt to load your NRB file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The NRB File Extension". If so, it typically means that you don't have Nero Burning ROM installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the NRB file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your NRB file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Nero Burning ROM is Out-of-Date
Sometimes your installed version of Nero Burning ROM won't support your Nero Burning ROM CD-ROM Boot Compilation file. Visit the Nero AG website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Nero Burning ROM. This problem is predominately due to having a Nero Burning ROM CD-ROM Boot Compilation file version that was created by a newer version of Nero Burning ROM than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your NRB file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening NRB files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Additional NRB Opening Issues
Errors opening Nero Burning ROM CD-ROM Boot Compilation files can still occur even with the latest Nero Burning ROM software installed on your computer. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening NRBs. Problems unrelated to software:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for NRB
- Corruption of the NRB file description inside the Registry
- Defective install of a NRB program, such as Nero Burning ROM
- Something has caused file corruption of your NRB
- The NRB is infected with a virus
- Device drivers for NRB-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Nero Burning ROM CD-ROM Boot Compilation file successfully
