XLTX Troubleshooting
Common XLTX Opening Problems
Microsoft Excel Removed
Double-clicking your XLTX file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open XLTX File". If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Excel installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your XLTX with Microsoft Excel, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your XLTX file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Obsolete Version of Microsoft Excel
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Microsoft Excel installed that's incompatible with your Excel Open XML Spreadsheet Template type. Installing the latest version of Microsoft Excel from Microsoft Corporation is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your Excel Open XML Spreadsheet Template file was created by a different (newer) version of Microsoft Excel than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your XLTX, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening XLTX files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft Excel installed on your computer.
