Troubleshoot DP Files
Frequent DP Opening Issues
Microsoft Notepad Disappeared
Double-clicking your DP file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open DP File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Notepad for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the DP file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you don't have Microsoft Notepad installed, and you know of another program to open your DP file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Incorrect Microsoft Notepad Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Microsoft Notepad installed that's incompatible with your Text Document type. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Notepad (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of DP file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Conclusion: The majority of DP file opening issues are due to not having the correct Microsoft Notepad version installed.
