Sources of MGZ Problems
Troubles Opening MGZ Files
Metal Gear Solid Isn't There
When trying to open your MGZ file, you get the error "Can't Open MGZ File Type". Customarily, this means that Metal Gear Solid is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your MGZ with Metal Gear Solid, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your MGZ file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Obsolete Version of Metal Gear Solid
In other instances, your Metal Gear Solid Archive File file version may not be supported by your version of Metal Gear Solid. Visit the KONAMI website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Metal Gear Solid. The primary cause of this problem is that your Metal Gear Solid Archive File file was created by a different (newer) version of Metal Gear Solid than what's installed.
Tip: Investigate your MGZ file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening MGZ files are due to having the incorrect version of Metal Gear Solid installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading MGZ Files
Although you might already have Metal Gear Solid or another MGZ-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Metal Gear Solid Archive File files. Other MGZ opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Windows Registry MGZ file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the MGZ file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a MGZ program, such as Metal Gear Solid
- The MGZ itself is corrupted
- Your MGZ has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers for MGZ-related hardware are out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Metal Gear Solid Archive File files
