ZRP File Complications
Issues Opening ZRP Files
Missing VMware Workstation
Double-clicking your ZRP file prompts the message "- Can't Open ZRP File". Usually, this is because you do not have VMware Workstation for - installed. The OS won't know what to do with your ZRP file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your ZRP, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Obsolete Version of VMware Workstation
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of VMware Workstation installed that's incompatible with your VMware Unix Agent Debug File type. Visit the VMware website to download (or purchase) the latest version of VMware Workstation. Most of the time your VMware Unix Agent Debug File file was created by a newer VMware Workstation than what you have installed.
Tip: Investigate your ZRP file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the ZRP file opening problems relate to not having the right version of VMware Workstation installed.
Other ZRP File Opening Causes
Even with the correct version of VMware Workstation installed, you can still experience difficulties opening ZRPs. If you are continuing to have errors with loading ZRP files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
- ZRP file type Registry entries are wrong
- The ZRP file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Invalid installation of a ZRP-associated program (eg. VMware Workstation)
- Your ZRP can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your ZRP has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware associated with ZRP has outdated drivers
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your VMware Unix Agent Debug File file successfully
