Common MUSICXML Opening Problems
MuseScore is Not Installed
When trying to open your MUSICXML file, you get the error "Can't Open MUSICXML File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to MuseScore missing in - . This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the MUSICXML file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your MUSICXML, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
MuseScore Requires Update
It is possible that your version of MuseScore isn't able to open your Compressed MusicXML File file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version MuseScore (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Most of the time your Compressed MusicXML File file was created by a newer MuseScore than what you have installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your MUSICXML file and clicking "Properties".
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening MUSICXML files are due to having the wrong version of MuseScore installed.

- Accidental deletion of the description of the MUSICXML file in the Windows registry
- Partial installation of MuseScore that did not fully complete
- File corruption affecting your MUSICXML file
- Your MUSICXML is infected with malware
- Drivers associated with MUSICXML software need to be updated
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Compressed MusicXML File format
