Troubleshoot SDO Files
Common SDO Opening Problems
Signere.no Document Viewer Not Present
If you attempt to load your SDO file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open SDO Files". Customarily, this means that Signere.no Document Viewer is not installed on %%os%%. The typical path of opening your SDO with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your SDO file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Signere.no Document Viewer is Out-of-Date
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Signere.no Document Viewer installed that's incompatible with your Signed Document type. Visit the Signere.no website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Signere.no Document Viewer. Most of the time your Signed Document file was created by a newer Signere.no Document Viewer than what you have installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the SDO file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening SDO files are due to having the incorrect version of Signere.no Document Viewer installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening SDOs
Although you might already have Signere.no Document Viewer or another SDO-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Signed Document files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening SDOs. Problems unrelated to software:
- Invalid SDO file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry SDO description
- Defective install of a SDO program, such as Signere.no Document Viewer
- SDO file corruption
- Malware-tainted SDO file can't be opened
- Hardware related to SDOs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Signed Document format
