Troubleshoot TWD Files
Frequent TWD Opening Issues
MindMapper is Not Installed
Double-clicking your TWD file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open TWD File". If so, it typically means that you don't have MindMapper installed for %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your TWD file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
MindMapper Requires Update
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a MindMapper Brainstorm And Visual Map file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Visit the SimTech website to download (or purchase) the latest version of MindMapper. The primary cause of this problem is that your MindMapper Brainstorm And Visual Map file was created by a different (newer) version of MindMapper than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the TWD file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening TWD files are due to having the wrong version of MindMapper installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading TWD Files
Errors opening MindMapper Brainstorm And Visual Map files can still occur even with the latest MindMapper software installed on your computer. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening TWD files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- TWD file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Corruption of the TWD file description inside the Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the TWD format
- Your TWD file is corrupted (issues with your MindMapper Brainstorm And Visual Map file itself)
- Your TWD has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers for TWD-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the MindMapper Brainstorm And Visual Map format
