SDA File Complications
Typical SDA Opening Challenges
Apache OpenOffice Isn't There
If you attempt to load your SDA file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open SDA Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Apache OpenOffice installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your SDA with Apache OpenOffice, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your SDA, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Obsolete Version of Apache OpenOffice
Your StarOffice Drawing file is incompatible with Apache OpenOffice because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version Apache OpenOffice (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your SDA file and clicking "Properties".
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening SDA files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other SDA File Opening Causes
Errors opening StarOffice Drawing files can still occur even with the latest Apache OpenOffice software installed on your computer. If you're still experiencing problems opening SDA files, there could be other computer problems. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- SDA file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Unintentional removal of the description of the SDA file inside the Windows Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the SDA format
- The SDA itself is corrupted
- The SDA is infected with a virus
- Hardware associated with SDA has outdated drivers
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your StarOffice Drawing file
