BDM File Complications
Frequent BDM Opening Issues
CyberLink PowerDVD Removed
You attempt to load your BDM file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The BDM File Extension". Customarily, this means that CyberLink PowerDVD is not installed on %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the BDM file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens BDM files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
CyberLink PowerDVD is Out-of-Date
Sometimes your installed version of CyberLink PowerDVD won't support your AVHCD Information File file. If you do not have the proper version CyberLink PowerDVD (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your AVHCD Information File file was created by a different (newer) version of CyberLink PowerDVD than what's installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of BDM file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening BDM files are due to having the incorrect version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed on your computer.
Other BDM File Opening Causes
Even with the correct version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed, you can still experience difficulties opening BDMs. Other BDM opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Other contributing causes:
- Invalid BDM file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Corruption of the BDM file description inside the Registry
- CyberLink PowerDVD or another BDM application experienced a flawed installation
- File corruption affecting your BDM file
- Your BDM has adversely impacted by malware
- BDM-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your AVHCD Information File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
