Understanding TAO Issues
Typical TAO Opening Challenges
IsoBuster Not Present
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open TAO Files" when trying to open your TAO. Usually, this is because you do not have IsoBuster for %%os%% installed. The typical path of opening your TAO with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you don't have IsoBuster installed, and you know of another program to open your TAO file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
IsoBuster is Out-of-Date
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Track At Once CD/DVD Image file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of IsoBuster if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your Track At Once CD/DVD Image file was created by a newer IsoBuster than what you have installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your TAO file and clicking "Properties".
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening TAO files are due to having the wrong version of IsoBuster installed.
Additional TAO Opening Issues
Assuming you have the right IsoBuster version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening TAO files. If you're still experiencing problems opening TAO files, there could be other computer problems. Additional factors include:
- Invalid TAO file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Corruption of the TAO file description inside the Registry
- Partial installation of IsoBuster that did not fully complete
- The TAO itself is corrupted
- The TAO is infected with a virus
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your TAO file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Track At Once CD/DVD Image format
