FRM Troubleshooting

Troubles Opening FRM Files

MySQL Not Present

When you double-click your FRM file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to MySQL missing in - . This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the FRM file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: Another FRM-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

Wrong Version of MySQL is Installed

In other instances, your MySQL Database Format File file version may not be supported by your version of MySQL. Installing the latest version of MySQL from Oracle Corporation is recommended. This issue mainly occurs when your MySQL Database Format File file was created by a newer version of MySQL than you have on your PC.
