Common XFDL Opening Problems

Microsoft Notepad Disappeared

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open XFDL Files" when trying to open your XFDL. Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Notepad for %%os%% installed. The OS won't know what to do with your XFDL file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: When another XFDL application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Outdated Microsoft Notepad

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Extensible Forms Description Language file that is unsupported by your installed application version.
