Troubleshooting Problems Opening WGT Files
Common Problems Opening WGT Files
CSPro Isn't There
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open WGT Files" when trying to open your WGT. Customarily, this means that CSPro is not installed on %%os%%. The typical path of opening your WGT with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another WGT application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Incorrect CSPro Version
It is possible that your version of CSPro isn't able to open your IMPS Data File file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of CSPro if you don't have the right version. This problem is predominately due to having a IMPS Data File file version that was created by a newer version of CSPro than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your WGT file and clicking "Properties".
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening WGT files are due to having the wrong version of CSPro installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening WGTs
Assuming you have the right CSPro version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening WGT files. If you are still having problems opening WGT files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for WGT
- Unintentional removal of the description of the WGT file inside the Windows Registry
- CSPro or another WGT application experienced a flawed installation
- Your WGT file is corrupted (issues with your IMPS Data File file itself)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your WGT
- Drivers associated with WGT software need to be updated
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the IMPS Data File format
