Troubles Opening WP5 Files
Corel WordPerfect X8 Removed
If you attempt to load your WP5 file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open WP5 Files". Usually, this is because you do not have Corel WordPerfect X8 for %%os%% installed. Your operating system cannot associate your WP5 with Corel WordPerfect X8, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens WP5 files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Corel WordPerfect X8 Requires Update
Your WordPerfect 5 Document file is incompatible with Corel WordPerfect X8 because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Corel WordPerfect X8 if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your WordPerfect 5 Document file was created by a newer version of Corel WordPerfect X8 than you have on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the WP5 file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Regardless, most of the WP5 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Corel WordPerfect X8 installed.
