Troubleshoot CXT Files
Typical CXT Opening Challenges
OMRON CX-One is Not Installed
When trying to open your CXT file, you get the error "Can't Open CXT File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have OMRON CX-One for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: Another CXT-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Wrong Version of OMRON CX-One is Installed
It is possible that your version of OMRON CX-One isn't able to open your CX-Programmer Project Text File file due to incompatibility. Visit the Omron Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of OMRON CX-One. This issue mainly occurs when your CX-Programmer Project Text File file was created by a newer version of OMRON CX-One than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of CXT file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening CXT files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading CXT Files
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of OMRON CX-One will resolve your issue. If you are continuing to have errors with loading CXT files, other external issues might be to blame. Additional factors include:
- File references in the Windows Registry for CXT are wrong
- Deletion of the CXT file description from the Registry by mistake
- Invalid installation of a CXT-associated program (eg. OMRON CX-One)
- File corruption affecting your CXT file
- CXT file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware related to CXTs has device driver corruption
- Windows cannot load your CX-Programmer Project Text File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
