Troubleshoot BDF Files
Issues Opening BDF Files
Backup Made Simple Removed
When you double-click your BDF file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that Backup Made Simple is not installed on %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your BDF because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens BDF files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Outdated Backup Made Simple
Your Backup Definition File file is incompatible with Backup Made Simple because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of Backup Made Simple installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a Backup Definition File file version that was created by a newer version of Backup Made Simple than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your BDF file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening BDF files are due to having the wrong version of Backup Made Simple installed.
