SNF File Complications
Typical SNF Opening Challenges
Unix is Not Installed
Double-clicking your SNF file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open SNF File". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Unix isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your SNF because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your SNF file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Unix is Out-of-Date
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Unix installed that's incompatible with your UNIX Font type. You will need to download a newer version of Unix if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your SNF file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening SNF files are due to having the wrong version of Unix installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening SNFs
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Unix will resolve your issue. If you're still experiencing problems opening SNF files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- Invalid SNF file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Unintentional removal of the description of the SNF file inside the Windows Registry
- Corrupt install of Unix or other SNF-related program
- Your SNF file is corrupted (issues with your UNIX Font file itself)
- Your SNF is infected with malware
- Device drivers for SNF-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the UNIX Font file
