Frequent WMD Opening Issues

Microsoft Windows Media Player Disappeared

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open WMD Files" when trying to open your WMD. If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Windows Media Player installed for %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your WMD because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: Another WMD-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

Microsoft Windows Media Player Requires Update

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Windows Media Download Package file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Visit the Microsoft Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Microsoft Windows Media Player. Most of the time your Windows Media Download Package file was created by a newer Microsoft Windows Media Player than what you have installed.
