PM File Complications

Frequent PM Opening Issues

Lemkesoft GraphicConverter Removed

You attempt to load your PM file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The PM File Extension". If so, it typically means that you don't have Lemkesoft GraphicConverter installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your PM with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.

Tip: If you have another software that you know opens PM files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.

Lemkesoft GraphicConverter is Out-of-Date

Sometimes your installed version of Lemkesoft GraphicConverter won't support your Unix XV Graphic File file. You will need to download a newer version of Lemkesoft GraphicConverter if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your Unix XV Graphic File file was created by a newer version of Lemkesoft GraphicConverter than you have on your PC.

Tip: If you right-click on your PM file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.

Primarily, problems experienced when opening PM files are due to having the incorrect version of Lemkesoft GraphicConverter installed on your computer.

Other PM File Issues

In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Lemkesoft GraphicConverter will resolve your issue. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening PMs. These issues include:

  • Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for PM
  • Mistaken removal of the Windows registry PM description
  • Lemkesoft GraphicConverter or another PM application experienced a flawed installation
  • PM file corruption
  • Your PM is infected with malware
  • Hardware associated with PM has outdated drivers
  • Windows has inadequate resources to open your Unix XV Graphic File file
