PT5 Troubleshooting
Issues Opening PT5 Files
Adobe PageMaker Isn't There
When trying to open your PT5 file, you get the error "Can't Open PT5 File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Adobe PageMaker installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your PT5 file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: Another PT5-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Adobe PageMaker Requires Update
Sometimes your installed version of Adobe PageMaker won't support your PageMaker 5.0 Template File file. If you do not have the proper version Adobe PageMaker (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your PT5 file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening PT5 files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe PageMaker installed.
