Sources of SHAR Problems
Common SHAR Opening Problems
Missing shar
You attempt to load your SHAR file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The SHAR File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because shar isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your SHAR with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your SHAR, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
shar Requires Update
Your Unix Shar Archive file is incompatible with shar because you might have the wrong version installed. Visit the Unknown Developer website to download (or purchase) the latest version of shar. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your SHAR file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening SHAR files are due to having the incorrect version of shar installed on your computer.
