ME Troubleshooting
Typical ME Opening Challenges
Unknown Software Disappeared
You attempt to load your ME file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The ME File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Unknown Software for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the ME file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your ME file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect Unknown Software Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Unknown Software installed that's incompatible with your Temporary Delete Me File type. If you do not have the proper version Unknown Software (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Your Temporary Delete Me File file was probably created by a newer release of Unknown Software than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your ME file and clicking "Properties".
Regardless, most of the ME file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Unknown Software installed.
Other ME File Issues
Although you might already have Unknown Software or another ME-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Temporary Delete Me File files. If you're still experiencing problems opening ME files, there could be other computer problems. Problems unrelated to software:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for ME
- Corruption of the ME file description inside the Registry
- Invalid installation of a ME-associated program (eg. Unknown Software)
- Something has caused file corruption of your ME
- Your ME has adversely impacted by malware
- ME-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Temporary Delete Me File files
