XLF File Complications
Issues Opening XLF Files
Apple TextEdit Not Present
Double-clicking your XLF file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open XLF File". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Apple TextEdit isn't installed on your PC. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your XLF file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Outdated Apple TextEdit
It is possible that your version of Apple TextEdit isn't able to open your XLIFF Document file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version Apple TextEdit (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your XLIFF Document file was created by a newer version of Apple TextEdit than you have on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your XLF file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening XLF files are due to having the incorrect version of Apple TextEdit installed on your computer.
Additional XLF Opening Issues
Assuming you have the right Apple TextEdit version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening XLF files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading XLF files, other external issues might be to blame. Additional factors include:
