Troubleshooting Problems Opening DTD Files
Frequent DTD Opening Issues
Microsoft Notepad Removed
When trying to open your DTD file, you get the error "Can't Open DTD File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Notepad for - installed on your computer. The typical path of opening your DTD with a double-click won't work because - cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another DTD application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated Microsoft Notepad
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Notepad isn't able to open your Document Type Definition File file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Notepad if you don't have the right version. Your Document Type Definition File file was probably created by a newer release of Microsoft Notepad than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: If you right-click on your DTD file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
