AMR File Complications
Typical AMR Opening Challenges
Apple QuickTime Player Not Present
Double-clicking your AMR file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open AMR File". When this happens, it is commonly due to Apple QuickTime Player missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your AMR with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens AMR files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect Apple QuickTime Player Version
Sometimes your installed version of Apple QuickTime Player won't support your Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec File file. You will need to download a newer version of Apple QuickTime Player if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec File file was created by a different (newer) version of Apple QuickTime Player than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your AMR file and clicking "Properties".
Conclusion: The majority of AMR file opening issues are due to not having the correct Apple QuickTime Player version installed.
Additional AMR Opening Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Apple QuickTime Player will resolve your issue. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening AMRs. Problems unrelated to software:
- AMR file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry AMR description
- Defective install of a AMR program, such as Apple QuickTime Player
- Your AMR file is corrupted (issues with your Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec File file itself)
- The AMR is infected with a virus
- Device drivers for AMR-related hardware are out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec File files
