Troubles Opening ALC Files

Ableton Live Isn't There

When you double-click your ALC file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that Ableton Live is not installed on %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your ALC file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: When another ALC application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Ableton Live Requires Update

In other instances, your Ableton Live Clip File file version may not be supported by your version of Ableton Live. You will need to download a newer version of Ableton Live if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your Ableton Live Clip File file was created by a newer version of Ableton Live than you have on your PC.

Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of ALC file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
