CMDF File Complications
Typical CMDF Opening Challenges
CrystalMaker is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open CMDF Files" when trying to open your CMDF. If so, it typically means that you don't have CrystalMaker installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your CMDF with CrystalMaker, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your CMDF, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
CrystalMaker is Out-of-Date
It is possible that your version of CrystalMaker isn't able to open your CrystalMaker Data File file due to incompatibility. Download the latest CrystalMaker version from the CrystalMaker Software website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Most of the time your CrystalMaker Data File file was created by a newer CrystalMaker than what you have installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your CMDF file and clicking "Properties".
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening CMDF files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Additional CMDF Opening Issues
Even with the correct version of CrystalMaker installed, you can still experience difficulties opening CMDFs. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening CMDF files. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry CMDF file paths that are incorrect
- The CMDF file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the CMDF format
- Something has caused file corruption of your CMDF
- Malware-tainted CMDF file can't be opened
- Hardware related to CMDFs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the CrystalMaker Data File format
