EMB Troubleshooting

Common Problems Opening EMB Files

Missing Awave Studio

If you attempt to load your EMB file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open EMB Files". When this happens, it is commonly due to Awave Studio missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your EMB because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: When another EMB application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Incorrect Awave Studio Version

Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Awave Studio installed that's incompatible with your Everest Embedded Bank File type. If you've got the wrong version of Awave Studio installed, you'll need to install the correct version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Everest Embedded Bank File file was created by a different (newer) version of Awave Studio than what's installed.

Tip: Investigate your EMB file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening EMB files are due to having the wrong version of Awave Studio installed.

Other Causes of EMB File Opening Problems

Although you might already have Awave Studio or another EMB-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Everest Embedded Bank File files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening EMB files. Problems unrelated to software:

  • File references in the Windows Registry for EMB are wrong
  • Mistaken removal of the Windows registry EMB description
  • Corrupt install of Awave Studio or other EMB-related program
  • Your EMB file is corrupted (issues with your Everest Embedded Bank File file itself)
  • The EMB is infected with a virus
  • Drivers associated with EMB software need to be updated
  • Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Everest Embedded Bank File format
