Typical FBS Opening Challenges
Missing Fastbid
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open FBS Files" when trying to open your FBS. If so, it typically means that you don't have Fastbid installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your FBS with Fastbid, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your FBS, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Fastbid Requires Update
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Fastbid Plan Sheet file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Installing the latest version of Fastbid from Interscape is recommended. Most of the time your Fastbid Plan Sheet file was created by a newer Fastbid than what you have installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the FBS file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening FBS files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other FBS File Issues
Errors opening Fastbid Plan Sheet files can still occur even with the latest Fastbid software installed on your computer. Other FBS opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Other contributing causes:
- Invalid FBS file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Accidental deletion of the description of the FBS file in the Windows registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the FBS format
- Your FBS can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your FBS is infected with malware
- Hardware related to FBSs has device driver corruption
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Fastbid Plan Sheet files
