CSV File Complications
Frequent CSV Opening Issues
Microsoft Excel Removed
You attempt to load your CSV file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The CSV File Extension". Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Excel for %%os%% installed. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the CSV file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your CSV, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Incorrect Microsoft Excel Version
Your Comma Separated Values File file is incompatible with Microsoft Excel because you might have the wrong version installed. Installing the latest version of Microsoft Excel from Microsoft Corporation is recommended. This problem is predominately due to having a Comma Separated Values File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Excel than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your CSV, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Conclusion: The majority of CSV file opening issues are due to not having the correct Microsoft Excel version installed.
