Troubleshoot JAD Files
Frequent JAD Opening Issues
Java Development Kit (JDK) Isn't There
When trying to open your JAD file, you get the error "Can't Open JAD File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Java Development Kit (JDK) missing in - . This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the JAD file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When another JAD application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Wrong Version of Java Development Kit (JDK) is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Java Application Descriptor File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Download the latest Java Development Kit (JDK) version from the Oracle Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Java Application Descriptor File file version that was created by a newer version of Java Development Kit (JDK) than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your JAD, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
