Troubleshooting Problems Opening TS Files
Common TS Opening Problems
Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip Not Present
When you double-click your TS file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip missing in %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your TS file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another TS application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Incorrect Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip Version
Your Video Transport Stream File file is incompatible with Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your Video Transport Stream File file was created by a newer Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip than what you have installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the TS file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening TS files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading TS Files
Even with the correct version of Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip installed, you can still experience difficulties opening TSs. If you are continuing to have errors with loading TS files, other external issues might be to blame. Problems unrelated to software:
- Invalid TS file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Deletion of the TS file description from the Registry by mistake
- Invalid installation of a TS-associated program (eg. Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip)
- TS file corruption
- TS file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with TS has outdated drivers
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Video Transport Stream File format
