Issues Opening QT Files
CyberLink PowerDVD is Not Installed
When trying to open your QT file, you get the error "Can't Open QT File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have CyberLink PowerDVD for - installed. The OS won't know what to do with your QT file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your QT file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect CyberLink PowerDVD Version
Sometimes your installed version of CyberLink PowerDVD won't support your Apple QuickTime Movie file. Visit the CyberLink website to download (or purchase) the latest version of CyberLink PowerDVD. This issue mainly occurs when your Apple QuickTime Movie file was created by a newer version of CyberLink PowerDVD than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your QT file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening QT files are due to having the wrong version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed.
Other QT File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening QT files even with the latest version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed on your PC. If you are continuing to have errors with loading QT files, other external issues might be to blame. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Windows Registry QT file paths that are incorrect
- Deletion of the QT file description from the Registry by mistake
- Partial installation of CyberLink PowerDVD that did not fully complete
- The QT itself is corrupted
- Malware-tainted QT file can't be opened
- QT-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Apple QuickTime Movie file
