Troubleshoot UVP Files
Issues Opening UVP Files
Missing Ulead MediaStudio
Double-clicking your UVP file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open UVP File". If so, it typically means that you don't have Ulead MediaStudio installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your UVP with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your UVP file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Obsolete Version of Ulead MediaStudio
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Ulead MediaStudio installed that's incompatible with your Ulead MediaStudio Data File+ type. You will need to download a newer version of Ulead MediaStudio if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the UVP file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Regardless, most of the UVP file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Ulead MediaStudio installed.
Other Causes of UVP File Opening Problems
Errors opening Ulead MediaStudio Data File+ files can still occur even with the latest Ulead MediaStudio software installed on your computer. Other UVP opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- UVP file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Deletion of the UVP file description from the Registry by mistake
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the UVP format
- Your UVP file is corrupted (issues with your Ulead MediaStudio Data File+ file itself)
- Malware-tainted UVP file can't be opened
- Hardware related to UVPs has device driver corruption
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Ulead MediaStudio Data File+ file successfully
