Database File Formats
WHAT IS A DATABASE FILE?
A database file is used to store data in an organized and structured format. It stores data as records in the form of rows and columns which can be easily retrieved by software or web applications. There are a number of different database models, with the most popular and flexible being the relational database.
A database file can also contain details about the database models used along with the data itself. Data can be queried from a database using a query language like Structured Query Language (SQL), NoSQL, etc.
HOW ARE DATABASE FILES USED?
Database files are commonly used to store data by websites to display dynamic content. While HTML only allows displaying static content, databases allow the content to be stored in a database and retrieved to display on a webpage using a DBMS (Database Management System), also known as a CMS (Content Management System).
