Troubles Opening DI Files
PC Xformer Classic Isn't There
Double-clicking your DI file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open DI File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have PC Xformer Classic for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your DI file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your DI file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
PC Xformer Classic is Out-of-Date
Your Atari Disk Image file is incompatible with PC Xformer Classic because you might have the wrong version installed. Download the latest PC Xformer Classic version from the Emulators, Inc website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your DI file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Conclusion: The majority of DI file opening issues are due to not having the correct PC Xformer Classic version installed.
Additional DI Opening Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of PC Xformer Classic will resolve your issue. Other DI opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for DI
- Deletion of the DI file description from the Registry by mistake
- Invalid installation of a DI-associated program (eg. PC Xformer Classic)
- Your DI can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your DI has adversely impacted by malware
- DI-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Atari Disk Image file
