Troubleshoot XIX Files
Common XIX Opening Problems
Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Not Present
When trying to open your XIX file, you get the error "Can't Open XIX File Type". Customarily, this means that Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is not installed on %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the XIX file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When another XIX application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Wrong Version of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is Installed
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) installed that's incompatible with your IIS NNTP Subject Lists type. If you've got the wrong version of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a IIS NNTP Subject Lists file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your XIX file and clicking "Properties".
Summary: Not having the right Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) version on your computer can cause problems opening XIX files.
