TAAC Troubleshooting
Common Problems Opening TAAC Files
Missing XnView MP
If you attempt to load your TAAC file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open TAAC Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because XnView MP isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your TAAC with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you don't have XnView MP installed, and you know of another program to open your TAAC file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Outdated XnView MP
Sometimes your installed version of XnView MP won't support your Sun TAAC Image file. You will need to download a newer version of XnView MP if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your Sun TAAC Image file was created by a newer XnView MP than what you have installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your TAAC, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Conclusion: The majority of TAAC file opening issues are due to not having the correct XnView MP version installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening TAACs
Although you might already have XnView MP or another TAAC-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Sun TAAC Image files. Other TAAC opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Problems unrelated to software:
- TAAC file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- The TAAC file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Corrupt install of XnView MP or other TAAC-related program
- The TAAC itself is corrupted
- Malware-tainted TAAC file can't be opened
- TAAC-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your Sun TAAC Image file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
