Troubleshoot CHP Files
Common CHP Opening Problems
Ventura Publisher Removed
When trying to open your CHP file, you get the error "Can't Open CHP File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Ventura Publisher for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the CHP file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens CHP files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Wrong Version of Ventura Publisher is Installed
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Ventura Publisher installed that's incompatible with your Ventura Publisher Chapter Document type. You will need to download a newer version of Ventura Publisher if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Ventura Publisher Chapter Document file was created by a different (newer) version of Ventura Publisher than what's installed.
Tip: Investigate your CHP file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the CHP file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Ventura Publisher installed.
Other CHP File Issues
Although you might already have Ventura Publisher or another CHP-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Ventura Publisher Chapter Document files. If you are still having problems opening CHP files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These issues include:
