Troubleshoot RSL Files
Common RSL Opening Problems
Corel Paradox Disappeared
When trying to open your RSL file, you get the error "Can't Open RSL File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Corel Paradox missing in %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you don't have Corel Paradox installed, and you know of another program to open your RSL file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of Corel Paradox
In other instances, your Corel Paradox Saved Form File file version may not be supported by your version of Corel Paradox. Installing the latest version of Corel Paradox from Corel is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your Corel Paradox Saved Form File file was created by a different (newer) version of Corel Paradox than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the RSL file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Conclusion: The majority of RSL file opening issues are due to not having the correct Corel Paradox version installed.
Other RSL File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Corel Paradox will resolve your issue. If you are continuing to have errors with loading RSL files, other external issues might be to blame. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry RSL file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the RSL file inside the Windows Registry
- Partial installation of Corel Paradox that did not fully complete
- Your RSL file is corrupted (issues with your Corel Paradox Saved Form File file itself)
- RSL file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for RSL-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your Corel Paradox Saved Form File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
