Sources of TV9 Problems
Common TV9 Opening Problems
Corel WordPerfect X8 Isn't There
You attempt to load your TV9 file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The TV9 File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Corel WordPerfect X8 isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your TV9 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your TV9, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Wrong Version of Corel WordPerfect X8 is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of Corel WordPerfect X8 won't support your Corel WordPerfect Overflow File file. Visit the Corel website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Corel WordPerfect X8. The primary cause of this problem is that your Corel WordPerfect Overflow File file was created by a different (newer) version of Corel WordPerfect X8 than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the TV9 file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening TV9 files are due to having the wrong version of Corel WordPerfect X8 installed.
Other TV9 File Issues
Even with the correct version of Corel WordPerfect X8 installed, you can still experience difficulties opening TV9s. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening TV9s. These issues include:
- TV9 file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Deletion of the TV9 file description from the Registry by mistake
- Invalid installation of a TV9-associated program (eg. Corel WordPerfect X8)
- TV9 file corruption
- TV9 file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Drivers associated with TV9 software need to be updated
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Corel WordPerfect Overflow File file successfully
