W51 File Complications
Troubles Opening W51 Files
Corel WordPerfect Removed
When trying to open your W51 file, you get the error "Can't Open W51 File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Corel WordPerfect isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your W51 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: Another W51-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Corel WordPerfect is Out-of-Date
In other instances, your Corel WordPerfect 5.1 Document File file version may not be supported by your version of Corel WordPerfect. You will need to download a newer version of Corel WordPerfect if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your Corel WordPerfect 5.1 Document File file was created by a newer version of Corel WordPerfect than you have on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your W51, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: Not having the right Corel WordPerfect version on your computer can cause problems opening W51 files.
Additional W51 Opening Issues
Errors opening Corel WordPerfect 5.1 Document File files can still occur even with the latest Corel WordPerfect software installed on your computer. Other W51 opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Problems unrelated to software:
- W51 file type Registry entries are wrong
- Corruption of the W51 file description inside the Registry
- Corel WordPerfect or another W51 application experienced a flawed installation
- Your W51 file is corrupted (issues with your Corel WordPerfect 5.1 Document File file itself)
- W51 file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Drivers associated with W51 software need to be updated
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Corel WordPerfect 5.1 Document File file
