Troubleshoot X06 Files
Frequent X06 Opening Issues
Missing Corel WordPerfect X8
Double-clicking your X06 file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open X06 File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Corel WordPerfect X8 for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your X06 file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Wrong Version of Corel WordPerfect X8 is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Corel Paradox Secondary Index file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Corel WordPerfect X8 (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Corel Paradox Secondary Index file was created by a different (newer) version of Corel WordPerfect X8 than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the X06 file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: Not having the right Corel WordPerfect X8 version on your computer can cause problems opening X06 files.
Additional X06 Opening Issues
Errors opening Corel Paradox Secondary Index files can still occur even with the latest Corel WordPerfect X8 software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading X06 files, other external issues might be to blame. Other contributing causes:
- X06 file type Registry entries are wrong
- Deletion of the X06 file description from the Registry by mistake
- Invalid installation of a X06-associated program (eg. Corel WordPerfect X8)
- X06 file corruption
- Your X06 has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your X06 file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Corel Paradox Secondary Index format
