Troubleshoot XG1 Files
Troubles Opening XG1 Files
Missing Corel WordPerfect X8
You attempt to load your XG1 file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The XG1 File Extension". Customarily, this means that Corel WordPerfect X8 is not installed on %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your XG1 file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another XG1 application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Incorrect Corel WordPerfect X8 Version
Your Corel Paradox Secondary Index file is incompatible with Corel WordPerfect X8 because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of Corel WordPerfect X8 installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of XG1 file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the XG1 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Corel WordPerfect X8 installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening XG1s
